Open-data overlays via the collector. Imagery: NASA GIBS tiles (fast), or Sentinel-2 via earthfetch / Element84 (thumbnail = quick preview; COG = high-res, can be slow). No API key. TFRs are state-centroid markers. Dark vessels = AIS silent ≥15 min.

Coordinate provenance

Verified — checked against a cited public record in this build. Charted — position from the public light list or gazetteer, to confirm against the CCG List of Lights, Buoys and Fog Signals. Approximate — derived from the settlement or headland; needs a survey fix before operational use.

Frames by affiliation and dimension: sea surface, subsurface, air and land installation. Coast Guard shore sites frame as land installations, live AIS as unknown sea surface, moored LilyPads and hydrophone lines as subsurface, live ADS-B as air. Affiliation sets the frame for unidentified tracks; own and allied assets stay friend.

Radar rings are horizon-limited: 4.12 (√h_antenna + √h_target) km for a 5 m target, then capped at the radar's instrumented range. A harbour mast at 8 m sees about 15 km; a relay TOAD at 800 m sees past 100 km and is capped by its radar. VHF is 50 km nominal from a summit and horizon-limited, about 23 km, between two harbour masts — which is why the relays exist.

Rings at 30, 60 and 120 minutes of transit at the set speed, from the 13 year-round BC lifeboat stations and the Sea Island hovercraft base. Straight-line reach only — no allowance for sea state, channel geometry or the notify-to-underway delay.
